    Start with two

    If you buy two things, make them the shoe bags and the admin pouch. The first fixes the smell problem. The second fixes the digging-for-keys problem. Patches come after. They do nothing for capacity and everything for making the pack yours.

    The rain cover and the toiletry bag are for the days that go wrong: a storm on the walk home, a shower at the gym before a meeting. Both pack small and stay in the bag until you need them.

    Frequently asked questions

    What accessories can you attach to a tactical backpack?

    Anything built for MOLLE webbing or hook-and-loop panels. Pouches with MOLLE straps mount on the webbing rows. Patches press onto the loop panel. Items with their own belt or clip, such as a fanny pack, fasten around a strap. Inside the pack, shoe bags and a toiletry bag keep gear separated.

    How do you attach a pouch to MOLLE webbing?

    Line the pouch up with the webbing rows on the pack. Weave each strap down through a row on the pack, then through a row on the pouch, and repeat until you reach the bottom. Snap the end shut. The IronBackpack admin pouch uses three vertical straps with metal snaps.

    Will hook-and-loop patches stick to any backpack?

    Only to a backpack with a loop panel. The patch carries the hook side, and it needs the soft loop side to grip. The IronBackpack Pro 45L has a front panel for this and ships with two patches. On a pack with plain fabric, a patch has nothing to hold on to.

    Does the rain cover fit other 45L backpacks?

    It is sized for 45L backpacks and made for the IronBackpack Pro 45L, which measures 20" × 12" × 12". A pack of similar size and shape should fit. A taller, narrower hiking pack of the same volume may not. Compare your pack's dimensions before you order.

    Are the shoe bags washable?

    Yes. The set has three water-repellent nylon bags in three sizes, and the material is washable. Use them for training shoes, lifting shoes or runners, or for a wet towel after a session. Wash them every few weeks so odor does not build up inside the pack.
