    How hook-and-loop patches work

    A patch has two halves. The back of the patch carries the hook side, which is the rough one. The bag carries the loop side, which is the soft one. Press the two together and they grip. Peel from one corner and they release.

    That is why a patch needs a panel. On plain fabric there is nothing for the hooks to hold.

    How do hook-and-loop patches attach to a backpack?

    Press the back of the patch onto the soft loop panel on the bag. The hook side of the patch grips the loops and holds. To remove it, peel from one corner. Nothing is sewn or glued, so you can swap patches as often as you like.

    Will these patches fit other brands of backpack?

    They fit any gear with a loop panel: backpacks, gym bags, weight vests, hats and jackets with a hook-and-loop field. They will not hold on plain fabric. Check that your bag has a soft loop area at least as large as the patch before you order.

    Do IronBackpack bags come with patches?

    Yes. The Pro 45L ships with a BE IRON patch and a USA flag patch. The 50L duffle ships with a DON'T BE AVERAGE - BE IRON patch and a USA flag patch. The ATHLETE and LIFTING CLUB patches in this collection are sold separately, in Black or White.

    Do patches fall off during training or travel?

    A patch pressed flat onto a clean loop panel holds through normal carry. Grip weakens when lint or chalk fills the hooks. Brush the back of the patch and the panel now and then, and press the whole surface down, not only the middle.
