Collection: Tactical Backpacks

Tactical build. Daily use.

Most tactical backpacks are designed for the field and end up in a closet. These are designed for the week you actually have: train before work, sit at a desk, train again, travel on Friday.

The Pro 45L measures 20" × 12" × 12" and is load-tested to 20 kg / 44 lb. It opens flat to 180° so you pack it like a suitcase and find gear in a locker room without digging. Five compartments keep used gear away from clean gear. A padded sleeve takes a laptop up to 17".

What makes these packs tactical

• MOLLE webbing — rows of webbing that accept pouches and attachments. Add an admin pouch when you need more quick-access storage.
• Hook-and-loop patch panel — swap patches in seconds. Every Pro 45L ships with two.
• 900D water-resistant, rip-proof fabric with triple-stitched seams.
• YKK zippers on the Pro 45L.
• 180° clamshell opening on the 45L packs.

Which pack for which job

When a tactical backpack is the wrong call

The smallest pack here is 45L. If you carry a towel and a water bottle, a 20L daypack does the job and costs less. These packs earn their size when you carry shoes, a belt, a change of clothes, food and a laptop in one bag.

Frequently asked questions

What is a tactical backpack?

A tactical backpack is a pack that borrows its build from military load-carrying gear. The markers are MOLLE webbing for attaching pouches, hook-and-loop panels for patches, heavy fabric such as 900D polyester, and a clamshell opening that lays the pack flat. Capacity usually runs larger than a standard daypack.

Can you use a tactical backpack every day?

Yes. The features that matter in the field matter in a normal week: fabric that takes abuse, compartments that separate gear, and an opening that shows everything at once. The IronBackpack Pro 45L adds a padded sleeve for a laptop up to 17", so one pack covers training and work.

Is a 45L tactical backpack too big for the gym?

Not if you carry real kit. Lifting shoes, a belt, straps, a towel, a change of clothes, a shaker and a laptop fill a 25L pack before you add food. At 20" × 12" × 12", the Pro 45L holds that load with room left. For a towel and a bottle, go smaller.

What can you attach to MOLLE webbing?

Any pouch or accessory with MOLLE-compatible straps. The IronBackpack admin pouch mounts with three vertical straps and metal snaps and holds a phone, wallet, keys and cables. You weave each strap through the webbing rows on the pack, then snap it shut. Nothing shifts once it is woven.

Are these tactical backpacks waterproof?

No. The fabric is 900D water-resistant polyester. It sheds light rain and splashes, and it is not built to be submerged or left in a downpour. For heavy rain, add the rain cover sized for 45L packs. It pulls over the whole bag.

Will a 17-inch laptop fit?

Yes, in the Pro 45L and the Thermal 45L. Both have a dedicated padded laptop compartment that fits devices up to 17 inches. The Duffle 50L has an inner laptop compartment for devices up to 14 inches. Check your laptop's outer dimensions if it has a thick gaming chassis.
