Two ways to keep shoes off your clothes

There are two real options. A sewn-in shoe compartment, or a separate compartment with a removable shoe bag. Each has a cost.

A sewn-in compartment is fast. Shoes go in, zip, done. The cost: it takes space from the main compartment whether you carry shoes or not, and you cannot wash it.

A separate compartment with a shoe bag is flexible. Leave the bag at home and you get the full volume back. Pull the bag out and wash it when it smells. The cost: one extra step.

It has no vented, isolated shoe pouch. It has five compartments, including two main ones, so shoes travel in their own compartment away from clean clothes and the 17" laptop sleeve. Add a water-repellent shoe bag for a full seal. If you want a sewn-in shoe compartment, choose the Duffle 50L.

What size shoes fit in the Duffle 50L shoe compartment?

The built-in shoe compartment fits up to men's US size 14 lifting shoes, boots or trainers. The duffle itself measures 29" × 11" × 13.4" and holds 50L. It carries by hand, over the shoulder, or on your back using the padded straps that tuck away when you do not need them.

Do I need a separate shoe bag?

With the 45L packs, yes, if you want shoes fully sealed from everything else. The set has three water-repellent nylon bags in three sizes. Use one for shoes, one for a wet towel or swimwear, and keep one spare. They are washable, so the smell does not build up over months.

Does a shoe compartment stop gym bag smell?

It helps and it does not finish the job. Smell comes from damp shoes sitting in a closed space. A separate compartment keeps it off your clothes. To stop it at the source, take shoes out when you get home, let them dry, and wash the shoe bag every few weeks.

Can I carry lifting shoes and a laptop in the same backpack?

Yes. In the Pro 45L and Thermal 45L the padded laptop compartment fits devices up to 17 inches and sits apart from the main gear compartments. Shoes go in a main compartment, inside a shoe bag. The two never touch, and the pack still closes with a belt and clothes inside.
